Obituary of Bernice B. Cockshott
Bernice B. Cockshott, 92, formerly of 15 Prather Avenue, died Tuesday April 28, 2020, in the Lutheran Retirement Home.
She was born November 20, 1927, in Russell, PA, a daughter of the late Wallace and Freda Matson Barstow.
After graduating from Russell High School in 1945, she moved to Jamestown, where she resided the rest of her life. She worked at Bigelow's from 1945 to 1980 until they closed. She then worked at Carnahan's from 1980 to 2006 until they ceased operation.
Bernice in survived by a son Ernest (Dianne) Cockshott of Gerry, NY; granddaughter Stacy (Dean) Swanson of Sinclairville; great grandchildren Jessie Cockshott of Englewood, CO, Mattison Cockshott of Jamestown and Morgan Swanson of Sinclairville; great granddaughter Amara Rosa of Jamestown, several nephews; step sons Edwin and Bruce Cockshott of Jamestown and Everett Cockshott of California and several step grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Cockshott, whom she married January 29, 1948 and who died June 7, 1990; two sisters Alma Laughlin and Audrey Fox; a brother Harley Barstow; grandchildren Toby Cockshott and Connie Lee Cochran and nephew Marshall Fox.
A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
