Obituary of Harry S. Field

Harry S. Field, 83, of Jamestown, NY, died Tuesday May 12, 2020, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born February 19, 1937, in Westfield, PA, a son of the late Alton and Mildred Blizzard Field. Harry was a 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to his retirement in 2001, he was employed by Upstate Milk and earlier had worked for Berglund Chevrolet, Ed Shults Auto Group, and Gary's Garage. He was a member of Camp Street United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, War Vets Recreation and the American Legion. Harry was an avid golfer and bowler enjoying many leagues through the years. He and his four brothers participated in the Brother's Bowling Tournament in Erie, PA for over 25 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a selfless man and was always there for anyone who needed him. Surviving are six children; Jan (Robert) Williams, Jill (David) Conklin, Darren (Debbie) Field, Thomas (Michelle) Tonkin and Donald (Sherrie) Tonkin all of Jamestown and Greg (Karen) Field of Cassadaga; fifteen grandchildren Julie (Brad) Arnink, Jennifer Williams, Rachel (Chris) Conti, Pam (Matt) Reese, Christina Conklin, Robert (Tress) Williams, D.J. Conklin, Andrew and Danielle Field, Heather and Brandon Tonkin and Jed, Jakob, Joshua and Jonah Tonkin; six great grandchildren and a seventh one on the way; a brother Donald "Jake" (Kathy) Field of Jamestown and three sisters-in-law; Gertrude, Sandra and Judy Field. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Arlene Erickson Field, whom he married September 28, 1956 and who died December 18, 2011; three brothers; Dana, Alton, and Elbert Field and two sisters; Angie Wells and Irene Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Due to restrictions of the pandemic a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
