Obituary of Daniel E. Gustafson

Daniel E. Gustafson, 73, of 43 Hammond Street, died Tuesday June 2, 2020, in his home following a brief illness. A lifelong Jamestown native, he was born December 22, 1946, the son of the late Harold and Birgit Kallander Gustafson. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1965, Hiram College in 1969 and received a Master's Degree in History from Fredonia State University. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving the US Army from 1969-72. Prior to his retirement in 2017, he was employed by Jamestown Container for many years as the Customer Service Manager. He was a member of the Viking Lodge and the former Westminster Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed reading books on history and walking his dogs while smoking his Arturo Fuente Cigars. He was an avid fan of Major League Baseball especially, the New York Yankees. Surviving are his wife Donna Greer Gustafson, whom he married June 21, 1969; two children Benjamin (Lauren) Gustafson of Orlando, FL and Kathleen (Ryan) Walvatne of Gales Ferry, CT and three grandchildren Jacob and James Gustafson and Ella Walvatne. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
