Obituary of Timothy A. Casler

Timothy A. Casler, 71, of Ashville, NY, passed away unexpectedly, with his granddaughters by his side, Friday evening, June 5, 2020 in his home. It was only three days prior to his 52nd wedding anniversary He was born August 24, 1948 in Jamestown, a son of the late Harold "Tip" and Janice Bailey Casler, and was a graduate of Jamestown Community College. He also served in the U.S. Army as an MP in Germany from 1969 to 1971. For 30 years, Tim worked as a supervisor for Asplundh Tree Service, retiring in 2011. In earlier years, he was employed by Ellison Bronze. He was a member of the War Vets Recreation for many years. Prior to health issues, Tim had a great love of golf. His senior year of high school saw him Champion of the NYS Youth Golf Association. During his golfing career, he had five holes in one, owned countless club championships and held the course record at several area golf clubs, including Chautauqua, Point Chautauqua and South Hills. Tim's family is most grateful for the Trusso family at South Hills and their support and friendship over the years. Tim is survived by his wife, Dianne N. "Nicki" Holdsworth Casler, whom he married June 8, 1968; a daughter, Nicole (Pete) Snyder of Jamestown; his two granddaughters: Lauren and Emma Snyder; sisters, Debbie (Matt) Moore of Jamestown and Denise (Lou) Williams of Moorsville, NC; brothers, Tom (Diane) Casler of Deltona, FL, and Tim Williams of Moorsville; a sister-in-law, Cindy Casler of Jamestown; as well as several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, with whom he created many great memories. In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by a son, Cory C. Casler, who died September 17, 2017; his brother, Ted Casler and sister, Diane Casler; and his nephew, Derek Casler. Tim's most precious joys and memories in life were his granddaughters, Lauren "Queen" and Emma. Anyone who knew Tim, knew that he thought this about his granddaughters. Tim and their grandmother, Nicki, took the girls on countless adventures over the years and were planning "one last adventure" in August of this year. Tim attended every one of the girl's sporting events and cheered with such pride from the sidelines. They meant so much to him that he chose to take his last breath with just them in his presence. The girls are heartbroken and devastated that their "old man", "nincompoop" and most importantly "wallet", will no longer be here with them on earth. Tim's wishes were that any memorials be given to benefit his granddaughters' college funds. Donations can be sent to the "Lauren and Emma College Fund", c/o 4805 Cedar Ave., Ashville, NY 14710. A private family service will be held. Visitation will not be observed at this time and a celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
