Obituary of Hattie Mae Wofford

Hattie Mae Wofford, 87, passed away on June 22, 2020 in Jamestown, New York. Hattie Mae was born in Forest City, Arkansas to Eli Stevenson and Dollie Tripplet on February 16, 1933. She married Robert Lee Wofford on June 18, 1960 and she was blessed with 12 children, 9 boys and 3 girls. Hattie Mae received the Holy Ghost in 1961 under the leadership of Elder J. Williams at the Williams Temple Church of God in Christ in Palestine, Arkansas. In 1962, she and her family moved to Meadville, Pennsylvania. There she united with the Liberty Street Church of God in Christ under Pastor Elder T.R. Wofford. She was a devoted member of Liberty Street Church until she moved to Jamestown, New York in 1989. Upon searching for a place of worship, Hattie found Emmanuel Temple Church as a fulfilling spiritual home until she passed. She was baptized in the name of Jesus on October 1, 1992 by the District Elder Uvie Stewart, Sr. Hattie Mae was the heart of her family and devoted her life to caring for her children and grandchildren. Hattie Mae is survived by 8 sons: Percy (Martha) Stevenson of Jamestown, Jessie Kaiser of Warren, OH, Robert Wofford of Jamestown, Charles Wofford of Cheektowaga, NY, Michael (Kathy) Wofford of Jamestown, Norman Wofford of Jamestown, Toney (Missy) Wofford of Edinboro, PA, and Tommy Wofford of Meadville, PA.; 3 daughters: Katherine Wofford, Carrie Wofford, and Glenda Faye Wofford Emanuel (John V. Emmanuel II, deceased), all of Jamestown; many grandchildren including: Clevon Wofford, Maceo Wofford, and Natalie (Brandon) Walker, Cameo (Dean) Stockwell, Twana Wofford, Charles O. Wofford, Ebony (TJ) Casler, Trajan Wofford all of Jamestown, Manuel Stevenson, Patrice Stevenson, Devonee Sue Kaiser, Shebrelia Wofford, Tobias Wofford, Jovetta Wofford, Deanne Wofford, Tomaree Wofford, Lucia LaBarber, Samia LaBarber, Chae Wofford, Clifton Wofford, Cassie Webster, Anthony Wofford, Gabrielle Wofford, Justin Giordano, Lakrisha Giordano, Toney Phillips, Tashonia Phillips, Chip McKibbens, Brandon (K-Lynn) McKibbens, Diante Wofford, and Donaven O'Dell; as well as many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends. In addition to her parents, Hattie Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wofford; a brother, Jesse Fisher; a son, John A. Wofford; 3 grandchildren: Desirae Kaiser, Jordan Wofford, and Hershel Wofford. The family would like to thank Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care staff, especially Michelle Salisbury, RN and Jessika Jensen, her main caregiver. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, June 26, 2020 at Lind Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 Restrictions, only 15 people at a time will be let into the funeral home and masks are required. Visitation will also be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Emmanuel Temple Church, masks are required. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday June 27, 2020 at Emmanuel Temple Church with the District Elder Uvie Stewart, Jr. officiating. Burial services will follow at Lake View Cemetery.
