My life path crossed Dennis Nords in 1975-1977 when my parents moved to Jamestown, and I was a student at Union Springs Academy. He and Omi became good friends with my folks, LeRoy and Rae Wyatt.
Dennis told me of an opportunity for summer employment ( caring for a neighbor of his on Hunt Rd. who had come home from surgery and needed someone to stay with her.) ... it was a great fit for me, and I appreciated his recommendation to the neighbor.
I also remember his contagious laugh and one time in particular....my folks were guests in his and Omi’s home along with another couple. Omi graciously served cookies that the other couple had brought unbeknown to Dennis. The cookies were rather hard, and when Dennis picked one up, he sat it down on the corner of the table, and flicked it with his thumb and middle finger, sending it flying across the table along with this comment, “ Looks like Omi‘s dome it again, burnt the cookies and then serves them to guests!” Of course he was being a jokester. Omi’s face turned deep red and when the truth came out so did Dennis’s face! All in attendance at the meal were doubled over with laughter!!
Tears came to my eyes when I saw the FB announcement with his obituary. My thought were of his ability to make others laugh and his genuine care for others, especially for his family.
