Dear Family,
As a teacher at Washington Jr. High School I would see Martha from time to time visiting. As I was a new teacher she always had good advice to share. You could not respect and not love her for her dedication and commitment to children and their education.. She was brilliant and always would have a smile for me, ask how the family was doing, especially my wife Martha " Marty". She made you feel special by taking those few minutes out of her schedule and I am sure that was how her students felt. She will be missed. Such a terrific person. Hoping that the family will always know that she was a wonderful educator and person. May prayers and thoughts help you through the times ahead.

When I was a small child, my first memories of my beloved Aunt Martha were larger than life. When we came to her house or she and her family came to ours, it always seemed my strong-willed father had met his match. And he had... his oldest sister! Even at an early age, my brothers and I were amazed at how smart she was and learned especially to not cross her. Unfortunately, as the years passed, distance became more of an obstacle, and the always enjoyable times we shared with our Aunt Martha and Uncle Charlie and cousins Sheri and Glenn became far less frequent. One of my favorite memories of Aunt Martha was when she came out with my mother to visit us in Nebraska. One particular day, my mom talked Martha into going to a Native American casino (few and far between in those days) in Iowa. Though not at all interested, she went to see it and be sociable... after patiently sitting next to my mother at a slot machine, she finally fished out a couple of quarters and put it in the one-armed bandit. One pull and she hit the jackpot! And she was done... and never played again. The only undefeated player I ever met! Over the years we stayed in touch over the phone, talking regularly but not often enough. Fortunately, my Dad and I were able to visit Martha and the family shortly before his death. I'll miss my conversations with Aunt Martha, but treasure the ones I had. With Deepest Condolences. Love, Nephew Michael Harvey

Martha was an esteemed colleague, a supportive mentor and most of all, a treasured friend. I am so thankful for my visits with her in her home after she retired where we would enjoy talking about the “good old days, early in my career of which she played such an important role. I will miss her, but I am thankful to have known such a tiny, little woman with such a big personality who enriched my life. My heartfelt sympathy to Sheri and her brother Glen who I never had the pleasure of meeting. She will be missed, but she will be remembered.

I was able to work with Martha when the UPK program began. She was always a warrior when it came to advocating for the childrens education. She was very instrumental in getting the program started. She would send me Poinsettia during the holidays at my job, and I always thanked her for thoughtfulness. She was a sweetheart. I really enjoyed working with her. She will be missed. May she Rest In Peace Sorry for your loss .. Love Daisy Rodriguez

Martha was my first grade teacher at Euclid Elementary, and I still have glorious memories of her walking us all down the hall singing Delta Dawn or Sweet Gypsy Rose. I had very fine hair that my mother would pull back into barrettes. By the time I go to school the barrettes would either be dangling from the ends of my hair or would have completely slid out. Martha kept a box of barrettes in her desk and would fix my hair for me every morning. When I was having issues making letters and number backwards, she had me trace my finger over the shapes of the letter repeatedly and eventually I stopped making the letter backwards. Long after my school years she remained a family friend. She was an exceptional teacher and a remarkable woman. I was blessed to have had as a teacher and a friend.

Martha was one of a kind. I met her at SG Love School and instantly fell in love with her. Martha helped me believe in myself and trust my instincts. We stayed in touch as I got married ( to one of her old students) and had my children. She was always there for support, a smile, and a laugh. The Knights love you Martha Jordan. My deepest sympathies to the family. Martha was one in a million.
