Obituary of LeRoy J. McCray

LeRoy J. McCray, 92, of 1595 Orr St., Jamestown, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 at UPMC Chautauqua. He was the husband of the late Betty Newark McCray, whom he married July 1, 1950 and who died May 7, 2019. LeRoy was born December 5, 1927 in Jamestown, a son of the late Harold and Laureate Lillie McCray, and was a graduate of Southwestern Central School. He had been co-owner, with his wife, of McCray's Harley Davidson on Orr Street from 1959 to 1974. For 36 years, he was employed by Anderson Screw Products and following retirement, enjoyed mowing parks for the Town of Busti for several years. LeRoy was a hunter and fisherman who took a number of fishing trips to Canada. Surviving are three sons: Dan McCray of Jamestown, Jack (Marty) McCray of Lakewood and Robert (Valerie) McCray of The Villages, Fla.; nine grandchildren: Chad McCray, Heather McCray Wilcox, Jennifer McCray Bussell and Stephanie McCray, Leslie McCray DiNapoli and Erin McCray Victorella, and Steve, Erik and Gregory McCray; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille (Harry) Walker of Hawaii and Mary Gould of Jamestown; and a brother, Donald McCray of Lakewood. Besides his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Crick. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to the Busti Fire Department, 886 Mill Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
