Obituary of Audrey M. Braley
Audrey M. Braley, 86, of Forest Avenue Extension, departed this life late Thursday evening, September 3, 2020 in her home.
She was the widow of Walter E. Braley, whom she married May 4, 1958 and who died May 14, 2010.
A lifelong area resident, she was born in Jamestown on January 13, 1934 and was a daughter of the late Harold M. and Dorothy M. Seely Hazzard.
Mrs. Braley was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years, she worked on the Hazzard Dairy Farms and for a number of years at the former Loblaws supermarket.
Surviving is a son, Randall S. Braley and step-son, Darryl W. (Terry) Braley, both of Jamestown; four step-grandchildren: Jason (Bridget) Braley, Ryan (Julie) Braley, Alysha (Ryan) Hoag and Andrew (Elizabeth) Braley; two sisters: Shirley McIntyre of Jamestown and Beverly Wiltsie of Frewsburg; a brother, Norman Hazzard of Columbia, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey gave her life to Christ at Bible Club Camp at age 11, and served him faithfully. Her kindness and sweet spirit will always be remembered. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed Christian music, church activities, flowers and living in the country; she lived 81 of her years in the same general area of Forest Avenue Extension.
When she was young, she delivered milk all over the Jamestown area for her father's retail milk business. In 2018-2019, during her long battle with severe osteoporosis, she remarkably walked hundreds of miles in Jamestown.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9th at the Koinonia Christian Fellowship on Peck Settlement Road in Stillwater. Pastor Ronald A. Lemon will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Following social distancing requirements, friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the church Wednesday. Masks are required.
Memorials may be made to World Vision International.
