Obituary of Sebastian Margaglio

Sebastian "Busty" Margaglio, 87, formerly of 10 Franklin St., Jamestown and Dunnedin, Fla., passed away March 16, 2020 in Jamestown. He was born November 20, 1932 in Tortorici, Sicily and was a son of the late Rosario and Sebastiana Lupica Margaglio. He came to the United States in 1959 arriving in Jamestown, marrying his wife, Carmela "Millie" Perfetto Margaglio on October 3, 1959. A true shoemaker, also specializing in orthopedic work, Busty opened Busty's Shoe Repair in Jamestown in 1963 which he owned and operated for more than 40 years with his wife Millie. During those years he also operated Elite Shoes and Jamestown Shoe Manufacturing. He officially retired in 2000 but remained active in the business for several years thereafter. Family meant everything to him - he was a proud father and very proud of his grandchildren. Busty was also very proud to be an American citizen. His memberships include the Odd Fellows, Moose Club, Falconer Rod & Gun Club, V.F.W., Marco Polo Club and he was also a volunteer in WCA Hospital's Physical Therapy Department for many years. His wife Millie, of Jamestown, survives him. Also surviving are two sons: Russ (Kimberly) Margaglio of Lakewood and Joe (Nicole) Margaglio of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Shandra Allar (Ryan) of Donaldson, PA, Sebastian "Sebe" Margaglio of Buffalo NY, 1st Lieutenant Nicholas Margaglio USAF of Glens Falls, NY, Nathan Margaglio of Buffalo, NY and A1C Nolan Margaglio USAF of Buffalo NY; two great-grandchildren: Kaden and Kooper Allar; his brother, Frank (Antoinette) Margaglio of Jamestown; sister, Carmella Margaglio of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Alexander William Margaglio; and brother-in-law, Peter Margaglio. Following COVID-19 guidelines for attendance and social distancing, friends will be received on a 'walk-through' basis from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 in the Lind Funeral Home. Masks are required. A private family service will be held, led by the Rev. Dennis W. Mende. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
