Obituary of Josephine K. Bonfiglio

Josephine K. "Jay" Bonfiglio, 99, formerly of 15 Camp Street and 9 Crane Street, died Saturday September 26, 2020, in the Lutheran Retirement Home. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born July 7, 1921, in Jamestown, a daughter of Samuel and Bessie Calanni Foti. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by St. James Catholic School as a secretary. She earlier had worked for Bigelow's Department Store and Art metal, Inc. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School. She will be remembered for baking, scratching lottery tickets, chauffeuring her friends around and meeting for coffee at Tim Horton's. More than anything she enjoyed time spent with family and loved caring for the babies. Surviving are three children James (Marsha) Bonfiglio of Lakewood, Russell (Robin) Bonfiglio of Jamestown and MaryJo (David) Hamilton of Frewsburg; four grandchildren Andrew (Emily) Bonfiglio, Amanda (Jeff) Kraska, John (Tina) Hamilton and Christine Hamilton; two step grandchildren Jason (Melissa) Soderlund and Jill (Tom) Soderlund and twelve great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Bonfiglio, whom she married January 5, 1952 and who died May 9, 1986; a brother Anthony Foti and a sister Rose Paganelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
