Obituary of Gregory B. Osterstuck
Gregory B. Osterstuck, 73, of Fairway Pointe in Lakewood, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born May 9, 1947 in Jamestown and was the son of the late Lester Osterstuck and Paula Nelson Osterstuck DeCasper.
Gregory attended Frewsburg and Randolph schools and graduated from Falconer Central School in 1965. He then graduated from Jamestown Business College in 1967 and Jamestown Community College in 1980 before receiving his Bachelor's Degree from Kaplan University.
He served in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1971, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and was stationed in Arkansas and the Philippines.
For 22 years, Greg was a Corrections Officer at the Chautauqua County Jail from 1989 to 2011. In earlier years, he was employed as a manager at Kay Bee Toys and Woolworths and as a dispatcher at Boss Linco and Lyons Trucking companies.
Greg was a life member of the Celoron Hose Co. where he held the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Fire Police Captain. He also belonged to the Fire Police Association and held the position of Secretary, TC-1 Lieutenant and B-3 Lieutenant.
Surviving are two daughters: Ashley Osterstuck of Ashville, NY and Amy Osterstuck of Yelm, WA; his granddaughter, to whom he was a second father and who was his pride and joy, Liliana Mannarino of Ashville; and his former wife, Janice Hinterberger of Ashville, NY.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Osterstuck in 1953; mother, Paula DeCasper in 1995; and his step-father, Harold "Casper" DeCasper in 1987.
Following COVID-19 guidelines for social distancing, friends will be received on a walk-through basis from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Masks are required at all times.
A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
