Oh dear Wendy,
I just learned of Charlie's passing a few days ago from Bill Soffel. Bless your heart, I am so saddened as I know you are too. Praise God we will be reunited one day soon. Charlie was such a good friend to me and the best boss ever. One time I wanted to purchase a jacket I'd seen for my boyfriend from a store in Chautauqua but was unsure. I asked Charlie for his advice and of course, he did one better--as he always did--he said "C'mon, let's walk over there and I'll try it on and you can see what you think because he's just about my size!" Your kindness to me over the years is held close to my heart. I remember when you had me and my daughter, Maddie, who had just turned four, over to your house for Thanksgiving. I can still see her little place setting, new crayons and coloring book included. Thank you for showering me with love--you even came to see me in a play...remember? There are only a handful of people I can count who truly and deeply influenced my life and Charlie was one of them. I love you "sister" and hope to see you again when I visit Chautauqua in the future. Praying for you and your family.
Love,
Teresa

I am so sorry to hear about Mr Heinz’ passing. I worked at HUD in Pittsburgh as his secretary from 1970 to 1974. He was the best boss and so much fun to work for. Great sense of humor. He used to call me Radar (from Mash). My heart is with the family. Cheryl Miller Allison

I was very sad to read that Charlie had passed. My grandmother Susan P. Atkinson, thought the world of Mr. Heinz and enjoyed working for him. Also serving in the fire department and rescue squad with him. I did not know him well. I do however remember his ready smile and that of his wife’s. Truly wonderful people. My sincerest condolences to the family. May your memories bring comfort.

to the Heinz family -
Charles was an easy person to admire. we met as HUD interns in 1965 in Philadelphia. he was then and likely always after a man of grace, intelligence, and with a genteel persona. we lost touch after that and it is not at all a surprise that he enjoyed a life full of family and success.
best of all for me, we liked each other in our short time together.

My condolences to Charlie’s family. I was one of the interns in Philadelphia in those days when HUD was new and we were fresh out of college We were an enthusiastic group and the world seemed to hold so many possibilities for us . I moved th SF in 1969 but Philadelphia and the friends I made there held a warm spot in my memory. In time may many memories buoy your spirits. Regards, Kay Westerberg

Dear Heinz Family! I am blessed to have nothing but fond, fun memories of Charlie! He took a chance on me, and it ended up being one of the truly best work experiences I ever had! He was a fantastic boss and friend. He has been heavy on my mind this past week, and I was just recounting all the wonderful memories of my time at Chautauqua with him! He will always hold a very special place in my heart, and of all the employees he worked along side. It is with the greatest amount of Love and Respect I reach out to all of you, and thank you for sharing him with all of us. Blessed and grateful to have known him, worked with him and to call him my friend. Much Love and Healing light to you all...and dear Charlie on his transition.

Rest In Peace Charlie Heinz, my first and only work dad. You were one of the kindest, smartest, and funniest bosses I’ve ever had. I can honestly say the office was darker when you left it. ❤️ Kris Tudor Bates
