I worked with Helen at JAMESTOWN general in the kitchen, in the 70’s. She was so wonderful........that job was short lived.
In 1998 I was very ill, and my Mom made arrangements to meet with Helen to talk about a healthy diet. She was just as gracious as I remembered her. My sincere condolences to her family.

Dear Nora, Jake and the whole family,
My heart goes out to you on the loss of your mom. I enjoyed working with her both at the general hospital and Heritage Village in Gerry but I think I was somewhat intimidated by her then as I was a young 20 something PT with two small children and she was already an experienced professional. We really got to know each other later as fellow Zontians and during many car rides to and from the meetings. I really admired her strength as a woman leader, how she dealt with her chronic MS and how she managed to raise such a brood of wonderful and accomplish children when I was struggling to raise two. She will be missed by many and she touch many lives in this community through her work and community service. I hope this as well as your own memories brings you comfort in the days ahead. My sincere condolences......Mary Ann Spanos

We were so sorry to read about the death of Helen. She was a special lady. When we visited her she always talked about her family with great love and pride. We also learned a lot about her life in Louisiana and Ohio. We have not been able to visit her since the pandemic but have been praying for her and will continue to pray for her and all of you. With sympathy, Fran and Amy Sirianni

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. I enjoyed many conversations that I had years ago with her in the weight room of the YMCA. A very nice and gracious lady. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

Aunt Helen was a special person. She passed her love of cookbooks along to me, I guess, because I have many like her. We came to see her in 1999 and I got to see all her cookbooks. She even has had me mail her some from the South over the years. My daughter, Joellen, is a dietitian like Aunt Helen. Love and blessings to all the family. Cathy Strebeck Carroll
