Obituary of Jack D. Moore

Jack D. Moore, 90, formerly of Lakewood, NY, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident for most of his life, he was born April 21, 1930 in Oil City, PA, a son of the late Glen and Reah Whitehill Moore. Jack was a 1948 graduate of Oil City High School and a 1952 graduate of Slippery Rock State College. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army on April 3, 1952 serving until his honorable discharge on April 2, 1954, receiving a national defense service medal. Before his retirement, Jack was employed by the Jamestown Public School System for 33 years having taught mathematics at the former Lincoln Junior High School. He is survived by three sons; Jeffrey Moore of Croton-On-Hudson, NY, Bruce (Susie) Moore of Erie, PA, and Jonathan Moore of Ocean Side, CA. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Nathan Moore of Carlsbad, CA, Daniel (Christy) Moore of Rochester, NY, Andrew (Ashley) Moore of Waterford, PA, Joi Moore of Amsterdam the Netherlands, and Lexi Moore of Ocean Side, CA, one great granddaughter; Natalie Moore of Carlsbad, CA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife the former Jean L. McCrea Moore, whom he married August 21, 1954 and who died March 12, 2016, a brother, Donald Moore on January 11, 1988, a son, Bradley Moore on October 19, 1991 and a granddaughter, Molly Moore-Lawson on February 15, 2015. Services for Jack will be private. Visitation will not be observed. Jack was laid to rest at Sunset Hill Memorials Gardens, Cranberry, PA. Jack's family wishes to thank the staff on the North Wing of Heritage Village for their excellent care, love, and concern shown to Jack over the last two years. The family suggests that memorials be made to Heritage Ministries, 4600 Rt. 60, Gerry, NY 14740.
