Obituary of John C. Andrews

John C. "Jack" Andrews, 95, of 96 Nottingham Circle, Jamestown, NY, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Jack was born on May 4, 1925 in Kane, PA to Charles C. and Velva D. Andrews. He was an honor graduate of Kane High School in 1943. Jack proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force in China, Burma and the India Theatre. He was invited to and attended the World War II Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 2014. Jack was a long-time employee of Quality Markets, Inc. He retired as Vice President of Merchandising in 1990. Jack was an avid golfer and belonged to Conewango Valley Country Club in Warren, PA and Moonbrook Country Club in Jamestown. He had the privilege of golfing with members of the PGA Tour, including Fred Couples, Peter Jacobsen and John Cook. Jack was a long-time member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Jamestown, where he served as an usher for over 50 years. He was a man of deep faith. Jack was a kind and caring gentleman. He had a giving heart with a very big sense of humor. He was loved by all who had the pleasure to know him. On November 29, 2014, he married Georgina Lemmon at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Jamestown. Jack is survived by his wife Georgina Andrews; daughter, Linda (Tim) SaGurney of Jamestown and son, James (Amy) Andrews of Lakewood, NY; and daughter-in-law, Roxanne Andrews of Greenfield Center, NY. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Shelly (Dean) Roush-Kirby of Edinboro, PA, Bryan (Chris) SaGurney of North East, PA, Jonathan Andrews of Greenfield Center, NY, Abbey (Ben) Soffel and Kylee Andrews, both of Lakewood, NY; three great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Kirby and Matthew Kirby of Edinboro, PA, and Alexa SaGurney of North East, PA; as well as one niece and two nephews. Jack is also survived by two step-sons, Thomas P. (Jodie) Lemmon and their children, Nicole, Stephanie and Michael of Raleigh, NC, and Jeffrey J. (Caroline) Lemmon and their children, Emily and Richard of Long Beach, CA. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Jean Schroth Andrews whom he married June 23, 1949 and who died May 9, 2013; a son, John C. Andrews II; a grandson, Benjamin John Andrews; and two brothers, Winnett Andrews and Robert Andrews. There will be no visitation observed. A private family funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Jamestown, where Jack will be inurned in the Church Columbarium.
