Obituary of Rita S. Nelson

Rita S. Nelson, 88, formerly of South Main Street, Ext. and Dearing Avenue, went to be with the Lord Tuesday December 15, 2020 in the Lutheran Retirement Home. Rita was born September 23, 1932, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Wesley and Josephine Cammarata Swart. She graduated from Jamestown High School, class of 1950. Following high school, Rita worked for 9 years at the former Bank of Jamestown in various positions. In later years she worked part time in the office of H&H Specialties and was secretary at Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. On July 16, 1955 she married Daniel A. Nelson in Kidder United Brethren Church. In 1959 they were blessed with a son Ronald O. Nelson, now residing in Chicago. Rita was a homemaker and hard worker. She enjoyed cooking and baking especially various kinds of cookies at Christmas time and sharing them with her friends. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. Together they saw much of the United States and western Canada. Their retirement trip brought them to Denmark, Sweden and Norway. In later years Rita and Dan were involved in the Keryx prison ministry at Gowanda State Prison. The Lord had been preparing them for this and it turned out to be most rewarding. They followed the command of Jesus and went "unto all the world and preached the Gospel." Jesus welcomed her with the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Rita is survived by her husband Daniel, son Ronald, and his partner Patrick whom she loves as a second son. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Robert Swart. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. You may leave words of condolence at www.lindfuneralhome.com.
