Obituary of Leola M. Hallquist

Leola M. Hallquist, 96, of Rochester, formerly of 12 Dearborn Street in Jamestown, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 after residing in Rochester since 1989. She was the widow of Richard E. Hallquist, whom she married October 19, 1940 and who died March 1, 1998. Leola was born on April 7, 1924 in Falconer, NY, one of eight children of the late Ray H. and Carrie Wolcott Phillips. A graduate of Falconer High School, she was employed in earlier years by the former Rudolph Jewelers and Darling Jewelry. Leola retired from the clerical staff of Jamestown Laminating. She was also a member of the Falconer Baptist Church. Surviving is her son, Daniel R. (Brenda) Hallquist of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Kevin (Jackie) Wisler, Paula (Mike) Timko and Richard Wisler; and five great-grandchildren: Andrew Timko, Christine O'Malley, Matthew Wisler, Tilor Hallquist and Trevor Hallquist. In addition to her husband, Richard, Leola was preceded in death by a son, R. Terry Hallquist and daughter-in-law, Ann C. Hallquist; three brothers, Charles, Donald and Lawrence Phillips; and four sisters, Genevieve Phillips, Irene Reed, Alberta Johnson and Muriel Newcomb. Observing COVID guidelines, friends will be received on a walk-through basis from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26th in the Lind Funeral Home. Facemasks are required at all times. A private family service will be held, led by Pastor Gus Carpenter. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
