Obituary of Peggy D. Summers

Peggy D. Summers, 73, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Lutheran Retirement Home. She was born May 2, 1947 in Connecticut, a daughter of the late Paul E. and Wilma L. Kessler Allen, and was a graduate of New Albany High School in New Albany, Indiana. Peggy was a homemaker for many years, along with being the secretary of the family owned electrical company. She went on to run and manage the family owned Laundromat and eventually ran a driving range. Peggy was always hard working and a joy to be around. She is survived by a son, Tony Summers and a daughter, Tammy Summers, both of New Albany, IN; four granddaughters: Shyann, Summer, Savannah and Sidney Carothers, all of New Albany; three grandsons: Alex Weddle of Princeton, IN, Dylan Troutman of Clarksville, IN and Samuel Summers of New Albany; and three great-grandsons. Also surviving is a sister, Paula Cappalino Knapp of Jamestown; two nieces, Peggy Harris of Jamestown and Cynthia Goodwill of Sinclairville; a nephew, James Cappalino of Jamestown; five great-nieces: Lauren Marucci, Jami (Koresko) Marucci, Victoria Himes, Cassandra Goodwill and Addison Cappalino, and two great-nephews: Lenny Marucci and Colton Cappalino; and a great great-niece, Emma Cooley and great great-nephew, Eian Cooley. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul in 2000 and mother, Wilma in 1977. Observing COVID guidelines, friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 26th in the Lind Funeral Home. Facemasks are required at all times. A private family service will be held.
