Obituary of Ellen E. Adams
Ellen E. Adams, 92, formerly of 23 Dewey Place Jamestown, NY, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, in the St. Mary's of Ashbury Ridge Nursing Care, Erie, PA.
A lifelong area resident, she was born December 12, 1928 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Robert and Marie Hayes Weldon.
She was a graduate of Jamestown High School Class of 1946.
Before her retirement she was a staff assistant for Alltel, Inc. where she worked for 31 years retiring in 1993.
Ellen was a faithful communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and served as an altar server. She was also a member of the Marvin Community House, American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 334, Chautauqua County, the Catholic Charities Outreach to the Elderly, the Ira Lou Spring Post 149, American Legion Auxiliary and the Fenton Historical Society.
She will be remembered for her infectious smile and positive disposition that will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She will also be remembered for sending her family and friends a card each year on their birthday and Christmas, without fail.
Surviving is her sister; Sister Mary Anne Weldon of Lackawana, NY, a brother; Bernard Weldon of Seattle, WA, as well as 14 nieces and nephews, 27 great nieces and nephews and 9 great great nieces and nephews that were very close to her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Adams who died August 8, 2000, two sisters; Susan Weldon Abbott, Catherine Sherman and two brothers; Jack Weldon and William Weldon.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will officiate.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at a later date.
