We will always be grateful for Bruce's kindness, dedication and perseverance dealing with our adolescent and teen boys in Troop 169. They learned so much from Bruce, and are better men, for having his guidance. And I have to believe that at least some of them are also better cooks, especially when it comes to cast iron and dutch oven cooking with "lots of butter" desserts, and donut frying (which I hear always disappeared in the blink of an eye at the snowflake festival). May you rest in peace, Bruce. I hope that you are having a wonderful reunion with Pat over a plate of her awesome mashmallowy brownies. Our deepest condolences to Bruce's sons and families.

I want to offer my deepest condolences to Bruce’s sons Jeff and Steven and their families. I am one of the boys that Bruce helped reach the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 169. I have many fond memories growing up, and having Bruce as a respectful and Godly roll model as Scout Master. So many great memories of summer camps, hikes and canoe trips over the years. I know that without his leadership example I would not have earned the Eagle Scout rank and then supported my own son in earning his Eagle rank last year. God speed Bruce, your memory lives on in all the young men whose lives you so generously touched. -Jon Keller

"Mr. Cobb" was how Bruce was well known to the many Scouts he guided. Be it camping at Cooks Forest, Spaghetti Suppers, Memorial Day Parades, Snowflake Festivals or the many camp meals he cooked (shepards pie, peach cobler etc..) for the boys. He valued each Scout for who they were and allowed them to be themselves. Bruce inspired many Scouts to obtain their Eagle Scout rank via kindness and encouragement , a rank that will hold special for their lifetime. RIP Bruce your dedication to the young men in our community will always be remembered...

I’m so very sorry to learn that Bruce passed away. Bruce welcomed me as an assistant scout leader of T-169 in 1993 and I had the honor to witness his unparalleled dedication, leadership and values taught to scouts and other volunteer leaders for 15 plus years. He truly cared about mentoring youth in a positive manner that always reflected the highest ideals that scouting was built upon. May you rest in peace Bruce knowing you always did a “good turn daily”. My sincere condolences to his sons Steven and Jeff. Jake Schrantz
