Obituary of Laura C. Swanson

Laura C. Swanson, 93, formerly of Lakewood, NY, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital. Presently a resident of Brevillier Village, she had resided in Erie since October of 2019. Laura was the widow of William C. Swanson, whom she married September 4, 1948 and who died December 30, 2018. She was born June 18, 1927 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Charles Carlson and Anna Gould Carlson Robbins, and graduated as valedictorian of her class at Falconer High School before going on to study at Bryant & Stratton College in Buffalo. Laura was employed for many years as a secretary by the Sears Department Store in Jamestown and later Lakewood, NY. Following retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at WCA Hospital. Surviving is her daughter, Sue (Bob) Johnson of Erie and son, Mark (Betsy) Swanson of Mayville; four grandsons: Ryan (Farzanah) Johnson, Kevin (Emily) Johnson, Jeff Swanson and Scott (Lindsay) Swanson; and two great-granddaughters, Claire and Charlotte Johnson. In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Horn; brother, Clifford Carlson; and her step-father, Lewis Robbins. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
