Obituary of Joanne M. LaPlaca

Joanne Marie Saletta LaPlaca, 76, of Jamestown, NY passed on March 10th, 2021 at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born on December 5th, 1943, in Dunkirk, the eldest of three children of the late Alfred and Mary Flagella Saletta. She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1961. She worked for the Bell Telephone company as an early switchboard operator and spent several years as a medical receptionist for various area doctors and at Heritage Park. She was an avid reader and music lover and enjoyed a wide range of authors and artists. Her favorite movies were, "A Star Is Born", "Grease", and The Sound of Music. Her favorite artists were Barbara Streisand, Neil Diamond, Elvis Pressley, and Elton John to name just a few. Surviving is her husband Joseph LaPlaca whom she married September 25th, 1965; two sons, Paul LaPlaca of Cliffside Park NJ, and Michael LaPlaca of Boiling Springs, SC, grandson Toren Sparks-LaPlaca of Cliffside Park, NJ and a sister Rosemary Donohugh of Hamburg, NY Besides her parents she was preceded by a brother Alfred Saletta on August 17, 2020. A walk-through visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. Facemasks and social distancing will be required. A private service will be held for the family.
