Obituary of Paul H. Lindquist
Paul Henry Lindquist, 86, of Shadyside Rd., Lakewood, NY and New Port Richey, FL, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA.
He was born on January 18, 1935, the son of the late Gunnard and Ruth Anderson Lindquist.
Paul was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, graduated from Jamestown High School in 1952 and attended Jamestown Community College. He served in the U.S. Army active duty and reserve unit as a staff sergeant E-6.
A lifelong area resident, Paul and his family lived for 33 years in the house he built in 1959 on Westman Road, Bemus Point.
He retired in December 1996 after 25 years of service at the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities, Electric Division, as an electric meter serviceman and served as a federal credit union officer and a member of the retirement committee. In previous years Paul was employed at Jamestown Fabricated Steel, Carborundum Company, Falconer Plate Glass, and Falconer Metal Specialties.
He was a member of Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of Vikings, Viking Trailer Association, Thule Lodge, War Vets Recreation, Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion, St. Timothy Lutheran Church, and a former member of Chautauqua Golf Club. A man of strong faith, Paul had a close relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, carpentry, and auto repair. He enjoyed spending the winter months in New Smyrna Beach, FL and recently purchased his own place in New Port Richey. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He taught his great-grandchildren how to fish. He could build or fix anything and will be remembered for the time spent helping his family members with projects, including complete constructions and renovations and others too numerous to list.
Paul is survived by a large family who adored and loved him: his wife of 66 years, MaryAnn Tedquist Lindquist, whom he married on June 13, 1954 at First Covenant Church in Jamestown; three daughters, Lori A. Judd (Robert) of New Port Richey, Lisa K. Johnson (Dr. S. Michael) of Lakewood, and Amy L. Kozachuk (Michael) of Syracuse; eleven grandchildren: Kristin (Daryl) Cronk, Andrew (Kelsey) Judd, and Nathan Judd; S. Michael, Jr., Matthew, Morgan and Mikayla Johnson; Danielle (Todd) Torrance, Denise (Andrew) Zilberman, and Stacie and Bethany Kozachuk.; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Phyllis Lindquist, brothers-in-law Steven (Joyce) Tedquist and Ronald (Barbara) Tedquist; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Jack (MaryLee) Lindquist and Merrill Lindquist, and sister Marilyn (Larry) Ross.
