Obituary of Carol Samuelson

Carol M. Samuelson, 90, of Jamestown, NY, passed away peacefully at 8:40 am Thursday, March 25, 2021, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, she was born May 23, 1930 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Russell F. and Gladys Berglund Peterson. Carol was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School and was a volunteer at the former Jamestown General Hospital for many years. She and her family were longtime active members of the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of the Vikings where she held several positions over the years and served as Chief of the Diana Lodge in 1983. She also worked as a waitress at the Vikings and enjoyed her many years at the Viking Trailer Park. Surviving are her three children; John (RoseAnn) Samuelson of Jamestown, Randy (Marcia) Samuelson of Crystal River, FL, Debbie Mazziotti of Prospect, KY, eight grandchildren; Leslie (Scott) Stone, Katie Samuelson, Natalie (Nicole O'Brien) Samuelson, Sara Black, Randy (LeeAnn) Samuelson Stephanie Samuelson all of Jamestown, Kimberly (Ed) Thompson of Louisville, KY, Melissa Mazziotti of Prospect, KY, eleven great grandchildren; Ava Hultberg, Alexandra Hultberg, Addison Hultberg, Isaac Hultberg, Alivia Stone, Ashlyn Samuelson, Ayden Samuelson, Brennan Samuelson, Jacob Samuelson, Kaitlyn Thompson, Olivia O'Brien and her "favorite brother" Rodney "Pete" Peterson of Jamestown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivar A. Samuelson, whom she married May 28, 1949 and who died August 11, 2006, and three sisters, Betty Classon, Beverly Laurin and Donna Taft. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery at a later date.
