Obituary of Victoria R. James

Victoria R. James, 62, of 809 Lafayette Street, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 27, 2021. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born July 31, 1958, a daughter of Thomas and Eunice Knight Faison. She was a 1976 graduate of Jamestown High School and later graduated from Jamestown Community College. At the time of Vickye's death she was working on a degree in Ministry. Victoria James career includes: Community School Coordinator at S.G. Love School, Outreach Director of Jamestown YMCA, and the Director of The Department of Youth Services for the City of Jamestown. Vickye also served on various Community Boards throughout the City of Jamestown, The United Way Board, The Child Advocacy Board (CAP) and several others. Vickye was awarded the Woman of The Year Award in the early 2000's. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since 2005 where she served in many capacities including Church Clerk, President of the Kitchen ministry and was a member of the Trustee Board. Vickye also organized the Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Celebration that was held at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Vickye was very civic minded serving as a Jamestown City Council member, Chautauqua County Legislator, initiated the Girls in the Middle and Weed and Seed Programs, was a Co-organizer of The Princess Club, Chairperson and Organizer of Annual Juneteenth Celebration, Vickye spearheaded various projects at Taylor Park including the newly installed playground and renovation of the concession stand. Not only did Vickye James love her community, she loved her Church and more importantly she loved the Lord. Surviving is her husband Ronald James, Sr, whom she married May 9, 1981; two children Qiana "KiKi" James of Montgomery, AL and Ronald "RJ" James of Jamestown; six grandchildren Noah, Jaydon and Donte James, Kaylee and Kiara Gabalski James and Lillian Hyde James; three sisters Diane (James Bess) Faison and Sharon Faison both of Jamestown and Shirley (Neal) Forney of Huntsville, AL; sisters in law Pamela and April James of Buffalo and brothers in law Juan Santiago of Durham, NC and Andri James of Buffalo. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents Versye and Cletus Knight, father in law and mother in law Frank and Shirley James and nephew Juan James, Jr. A walk-through visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday April 6th in the Lind Funeral Home. Masks are required and social distancing must be observed.
