We met the Welker’s when Miriam worked with Maria at Bigelow’s Dept. Store. This led to many happy times in their home enjoying Maria’s wonderful German baked goods. Jim also enjoyed skiing with Peter. Maria and her love of life will be missed by many. Our condolences and prayers go out to the family.

To Karin and Erhard and Family~ i have so many wonderful memories of your Mom and Dad with My Mom and Dad--Josephine and Tony Raffa--on Broadhead Avenue--My parents and your parents were such good Friends. I remember being at your house or they would be at our house all the time. All such wonderful people.I actually saw your Mom at the Jamestown mall a few months before Covid hit--how wonderful it was to see her as I had not seen her in a long time--we picked up just where we left off. What great memories. She was so proud of all of you. She is with Peter now and together again.
Just know she is at peace and happy again. Miss all of you-- Love you--Loretta Raffa Delpriore

Dear Karin, Erhard, and family of Maria,
I was so sad to hear about the loss of your beautiful mother Maria. Growing up on Broadhead Avenue, I have such fond memories of your parents, your mom especially. She was always happy and smiling and willing to share a story to whomever would listen. I can still hear her voice calling out to both of you in the alley next to your house. That memory still makes me smile to this day.
Whenever I would see her out and about in later years (shopping) of course, she would always give me a hug with some type of compliment. Her conversations were never short and always animated. I loved that about her. She will be missed.
Karin, I’m sure I will see you this summer and I’ll be able to give you that huge hug that I’m sure you need right now.
Wishing you all comfort and love.

Maria will definitely be missed. She always greeted us with a hug and a kind word. Her energy was unbelievable, she could walk the mall for hours and distribute her chocolate. My sincere condolences to Erhard and my sister and thanks for all they did for Maria

I think of Maria and see her walking into our home on E, Virginia Blvd, smile beaming, carefully carrying her famously intricate tortes to share at family celebrations. They were works of art, but far greater treasures of love!! God bless you all. She is at peace; I pray that same peace for each of you. You are in my heart.
