Obituary of John F. Garvey

John F. Garvey Sr. (Jack) 75 years old of 1186 Blockville Watts Flats Rd., Ashville passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 in St. Vincent's Hospital, Erie. A Chautauqua county resident most of his life Jack was born December 12, 1945 in Kittanning, PA. The son of the late Thomas King Garvey and Rose Marie Perry Ortolano. He attended Jamestown High School and received his GED from Jamestown Community College after serving in the United States Marine Corp from 1963-1967. He was very proud to have served in the Marine Corp. Prior to retirement he was employed by The Resource Center in the maintanence department. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and shared his love of the outdoors with his sons. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife Barbara J. Garvey who he married March 2, 1968, three children John Jr. (Nancy) of Frewsburg, James of Ashville, and Gena (Dave) Pearson of Panama, NY. Six grandchildren Andrew (Kristan), Jeremy (Jamie), Claire, Lauren Garvey, Madison and Jackson Pearson. His stepmom Grace Garvey, two brothers Stephen and Michael Garvey, two sisters Rosanne Ortolano and Kathleen Ingrao, two sister in laws Bonnie (Ed) Derry and Pat Marks, along with many neices and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceeded in death by a brother, Thomas Garvey. No visitation will be observed, there will be a private service for his immediate family. A celebration of life will be observed at a later date.
