I worked with Robert for several years. He was always such a sweet soul and even on the worst days could lighten the mood with a joke or a laugh. He will leave a large void and we will all miss him terribly.

Joe Hewson, here’s my memory which mirrors much of what you said!!!
To LindFH:
“I was a baseball coach for the Ashville Athletics, when Robbie was 9 or 10 years old. Robbie was a wonderful player to coach, and would play anywhere I asked him to.
One day we were playing a team that had a star- player who every coach in the league knew was going to be a tough out! In that particular game, I was short of players, and I asked Robbie to play 3rd base. (Robbie normally played in the outfield.). So when this excellent player came to bat, the outfielders went as far back as they could, in hopes they’d catch one of his “rockets”!
Sooo, the pitcher threw his best pitch; there was a large crack of the bat - and it was hit so hard - I had no idea where it went!!! Until I saw Robbie stagger back about 3 steps; holding his glove in front of his [shocked] body, with THE BALL in it. Although our team lost that game, Robbie Johnson was OUR star player!!!
I hope there’s baseball teams in Heaven!
I want you on my team, Robbie!!! Joe Hewson

I have to say that I have never known a more unique individual as my good friend Rob. I have truly enjoyed all of the many crazy and memorable times that we shared growing up together. Rob's greatest attribute was making people laugh and smile. He truly had a special gift. I know some of Rob's greatest memories in high school was playing on the Panama football team. I think the Panama football coaches had the greatest enjoyment working with Rob with his unique sense of humor and personality. Coach Ed Trisket had a special football play for Rob running as a Fullback titled "Hey diddle, diddle, Rob up the middle". This football play brought great excitement to Rob and the football team itself. Well, for one last play Rob, "Hey diddle, diddle, Rob up the middle" crossing that goal line into heaven to be with your sister, mother, and father. My condolences to Tina, Rick, and.the entire family. He will be missed by many, but he will never be forgotten. That I can assure you ! Rest in Peace good buddy, Guido
