Condolences to Tim and all the family. I wish you comfort as you gather to share memories and celebrate her life. I remember walking the trolley tracks from Fluvanna to visit, and joining you for nights at Stateline Speedway. I wish you all well.

To Ed, Ed Jr, Tim, Cindy and Kim: Your wife/mom Diane was without a doubt THE kindest, funniest, silliest, down-to-earth, caring, loving woman I have ever known. Growing up with all of you as our 'down the hill' neighbors, I felt a part of your family, sharing in so many moments that I treasure as some of the best times of my childhood. Diane ALWAYS and I do mean ALWAYS had a smile ear to ear when I would walk in the back door, or when we would come for down for a summertime swim (I think daily until we got our own pool!) Never ever did she make me feel anything other than love and joy to see me. The bond she had with all of her kids was so real, it was of course deep love. But I sure do recall her chasing Eddie out the pool door with a big shoe being flung and missing! HA! You knew when you stepped out of line, but again..sometimes we all deserve a good thunk! Her sense of humor was what impressed me, by far, as an attribute which I tried to learn to have. I recall a summer when Diane and Ed were going to some party somewhere that night, and she had her hair all done up, and looked beautiful! All of a sudden, Ed runs out the door, grabs Diane and picks her up, tossing her perfectly into the pool...her only scream was "MY HAIR!" I can still see Ed bug his eyes out and clap his hands over his mouth! OMG Hilarious...and she got him back. Priceless. I will forever be grateful to all the Shults family, and to Diane who was the most wonderful mentor on how to love and laugh in this world with grace, style, class- I will never forget you. With love to you all in these hard days, hold on to that laughter. Nannette Wilcox Doolittle

To the entire family,
Vern and I didn't know your mom, but we know the incredible children she raised. She left an incredible legacy with her family.
Today we bid farewell to her body but not her spirit.
We bid farewell to her mind but not her dreams.
We bid farewell to her voice but not her message.
We bid farewell to her heart but not her love. Never her love.
"I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love." Leo Buscaglia

My happiest memories of growing up were living next door on South Main Extension to Diane (Mrs. Shults to us) playing with Ed, Tim, Cindy. Kim, you weren't born yet! Everyday during the summer months after lunch, one of my sisters or I would call and ask if it would be alright to come down to swim. Of course! would always be the answer. I never remember being told no. We'd be swimming with the kids and suddenly we hear the back door slam, feet running on the patio and doing a somersault and with a BIG splash there would be Diane in the middle of the pool laughing away. The smile that I always saw on her face will always be the way I will remember Diane, Mrs. Shults to the Wilcox girls. Thank you to Mr. Shults and all you kids for making our childhood some of the best times of our lives. Love you all!
