Obituary of Dorice E. Hendrickson

Dorice E. Hendrickson, 99, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday morning, June 3, 2021, surrounded by family, at their summer home on Chautauqua Lake. She was the widow of Howard C. Hendrickson, whom she married October 25, 1957, and who died December 27, 2015. Dorice was born July 28, 1921, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late C. Henry and M. Josephine Lindholm Anderson. After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for various companies including Hope Windows and Nelson's Department store in Jamestown, NY. During WWII she served as a Rosie the Riveter on C46 aircrafts for Curtis Wright in Buffalo, NY. She later worked with her husband as bookkeeper and office manager at Hendrickson Plumbing & Heating. Together with Howie she enjoyed activities with the Jamestown Ski Club which he helped found, as well as the Antique Car Club in Jamestown. Mostly though, she loved spending time on Chautauqua Lake with family and friends. Surviving is her son, Bradley C. (Cindy) Hendrickson of Erie, Pa.; and three grandchildren: Michelle Hendrickson of Cincinnati, OH, Brian Hendrickson of Buffalo, NY and Rachael Hendrickson of Erie, PA. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother: Jeannette Romer, Bernice Danna, Beverly Anderson, C. Irene Miller, and Charles Anderson. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. A private family committal service will be held in Lake View Cemetery, led by Rev. Jim Witherington, Hospice Chaplain. A celebration of life will be held for her later this summer. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W.
