Obituary of Achille J. Paladino

Achille John "Punky" Paladino, 75, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully Wednesday June 23, 2021, in his home. He was born February 1, 1946, in Jamestown, son of the late John and Giocanda Maisto Paladino. He was a 1964 graduate of Jamestown High School. "Punky" proudly served his country as a sergeant in the US Marine Corps from 1964 - 1968. He served 13 months in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. He received various commendations including Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Vietnamese Service, Vietnamese Campaign, Meritorious Mast Medals and qualified as a rifle expert. In 1970 he began his career as a police officer with the Jamestown Police Department, protecting his city and its residents. He later worked as a mechanic before he and his wife moved to Florida and opened two restaurants called "Nana and Papa's." His cooking was loved and so was he. Punky was a man of pride, known for his huge heart and willingness to help anyone in need. Following the death of his wife, Punky returned to Jamestown to be with family and continued his passion for helping others regardless of circumstances. His sacrifices throughout his life will forever be remembered and his legacy will be carried by those who knew him and the lives he touched. Surviving are four children Christina Kaczar of Ocala, FL, Jamie (Marty) Grabow of Jamestown, Dawn (Jesse) Mummey and John (Dixie) Paladino, both of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren Desirae Bradford, Aaron Kaczar, Jessica Kaczar and Cody Mummey; six great grandchildren Jordan, Greyson, Axel and Zoey Mummey, Joseph Triscari and Sophia Bradford; sister Connie Mead of Jamestown and brother Gerald (Kathi) Paladino of Lakewood. Kathi was more than a sister-in- law, she was his primary caregiver. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Giocanda Paladino; his wife Suzann Hoadley Paladino and grandson Branden Mummey. Friends will be received from 10 am to noon Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, followed by graveside military honors at Sunset Hill Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
