Obituary of Carl S. Samuelson
Carl S. Samuelson, 91, formerly of Bellview Rd. Bemus Point, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident, he was born May 21, 1930, in the Town of Ellicott, NY, a son of the late Herman and Signe Johnson Samuelson.
Before his retirement he was a tool maker for Ellison Bronze, Inc. Falconer, NY for many years. In earlier years he had worked for the former Crescent Tool Company and Automatic Voting Machine.
Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves, serving in the tank division for six years and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Carl was proud of his Swedish heritage and a member of the Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of the Vikings and will be remembered for his love of walking and enjoying nature, the yearly family fishing trips to Canada, golfing, and playing ball in the yard. He was also a fan of the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bills, and the New York Yankees. Carl enjoyed attending sports and musical activities that his children and grandchildren participated in. His nieces and nephews will remember him for looking for gnomes in the woods.
Surviving are his three children; Kathleen (Bob) Anderson of Bemus Point, Brad (Carol) Samuelson of Ashville, Ron (Marlene) Samuelson of Bemus Point, eight grandchildren; Mike (Carol McLaughlin) Anderson, Tim (Maribel) Anderson, Steve (Liz) Anderson, Erik Samuelson, Brett Samuelson, Michelle (Doug) Bottoms, Janelle (Bradley) Venant, Diana (Charlie) Dibble, 10 great grandchildren; Dylan Anderson, Katie and Nicholas Anderson, Matthew, John, and Adam Anderson, Ila and Nola Samuelson, Kaden and Lucas Bottoms, a sister; Lois Schauman of Frewsburg and a brother; Brian Samuelson of Phoenix, AZ.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Phyllis Arlene Casselman Samuelson whom he married January 17, 1952, and who died May 21, 2020, a sister, Elsie Samuelson and a brother, Jack Samuelson.
A private family graveside service will be held in the Bemus Point Cemetery. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of Lutheran will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
The Samuelson family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Lutheran for the excellent care provided to both Carl and Phyllis the past several years.
