Obituary of Marcie R. Steward

Marcie R. Steward, 69, of 213 Hazeltine Ave. in Jamestown, died Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at UPMC Hamot. She was born December 24, 1951 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth McCalligan Haskin. Marcie was employed for over 20 years by Bush Industries in Jamestown. She loved animals, especially horses. She is survived by a daughter, Tracy J. Steward of Cassadaga, NY; four grandchildren: Alysa (Cody) Frederick of Falconer and Caitlyn, Joshua and Jessyka Williams, all of Cassadaga; three great-grandsons: Cayd Frederick, Myles Hinman and Carter Frederick; as well as one great-granddaughter expected this coming August, Everly Hinman. Also surviving are Marcie's six siblings: Cynthia Carlson, Claudia (Paul) Chapman, Peggy Weston, Sally (Fran Phillips) Thunberg, Renee (Dan) Locey and Charles (Anne) Haskin; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Marcie was preceded in death by her fiancée, Eugene "Jay" Calkins; brother, James "Husky" Haskin; brother-in-law, Doug Weston; and two nephews, Jason Haskin and Lee Weston. Her daughter Tracy shares, "I want to say a special thank you to three amazing people; first to my Aunt Peg who selflessly took care of my Mom for a year after her last battle with illness; and secondly to Dan Locey and LeAnn Jackson for staying with, loving and taking care of my Mom these last few months. It allowed her to be where she was happiest and loved. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all and so did she." The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Kibbe will officiate. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home Saturday.
