Obituary of Philip M. Rohler

Rev. Philip M. Rohler, 72, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 2:52 PM Thursday, July 15, 2021, in his home, following a long journey with cancer. He was born December 2, 1948, in Cleveland, OH, a son of the late James Herbert and Eleanor Louise McPherson Rohler. Philip was a graduate of Kenston High School, Chagrin Falls, OH and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cedarville University, Cedarville, OH. He received his Master of Arts Degree from Illinois State University, Bloomington, IL, and a master's degree in Divinity from North Park Seminary, Chicago, IL. He also studied at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, IL, Bethel Seminary, Bethel, MN, and the Graham Bible College in Bristol, TN. In most recent years, Rev. Rohler had been the pastor of the Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ in Jamestown. Throughout his many years of ministry, he has served churches all over the country. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling, living simply, animals of all kinds, ping pong, gardening, ice cream, scrabble, and philosophical/theological conversations. Surviving are his two children, Rev. Adam (Rev. Amy) Rohler of Jamestown, NY, Elizabeth (Brian) Johnson of Roseville, MN, four grandchildren, Sydney and Madison Johnson of Roseville, Emmett and Calla Rohler of Jamestown, two sisters, Ruth Maynard of Phoenix, AZ, Janet Rohler of Boston, MA, and two brothers, J. Daniel Rohler of Kingman, AZ, David Rohler of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife Pamela Kay Anderson whom he married May 20, 1972, and who died April 9, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, July 23, 2021, in the First Covenant Church. The Rev. Rick Miller, pastor of the Zion Covenant Church will officiate.
