Obituary of Larry R. Conner

Larry R. Conner, 68, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Warren Manor. He was born April 21, 1953 in Jamestown, a son of the late George W. and Emma Grey Conner. A 1971 graduate of Falconer High School, he then graduated from Jamestown Community College and in 1975 from Syracuse University. Larry owned and operated the former Lakewood Upholstery. In Syracuse, he belonged to the Jaycees and locally the Optimist Club of Jamestown and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. As a member of Zion Covenant Church, Larry sang in the choir (and enjoyed his pranks with other choir members), teaching confirmation classes, and cooking for Wednesday Night dinners and church retreats at Camp Mission Meadows. He was an exceptional cook and known for his ribs. Larry was always prepared to help others. Surviving are three children: Katie (Todd) Conner/Morrison of Jamestown, Trevor (Kristan) Conner of Charlotte, NC and Laura Conner and her son, Charlie of Fort Mill, SC; his former wife, Cindy Conner of Jamestown; siblings: Dr. George (Lisa) Conner of Virginia Beach, VA, David (Jan) Conner of Winston, GA, twin sister, Darlene Schlotterback of Kendallville, IN, and Randy (Dee) Conner of Owego, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews and his two cats, Yoda (a hairless cat) and Luke. Following Larry's wishes, his body was donated to the University of Buffalo Medical School for the benefit of others. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3rd at Zion Covenant Church. The family suggests memorials in Larry's honor be made to Zion Covenant Church, 520 Fairmount Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701.
