To the family of Jon, I was so sad to hear the news of Jon's passing. He was a great man and will be missed greatly. Jon and I coached JV volleyball together for years at Panama along with Deb Palmer. The two of them taught me so much! After Jon retired from volleyball he always made a point to come to SWCS when we played them. I looked forward to his visit and always enjoyed catching up with him. I missed my annual visit this year and will fondly remember Jon every time I walk in to SW school. My deepest condolences to you ... RIP Jon.

Condolences to the family of Coach Pearson. Not only was I fortunate enough to have him as a teacher at Panama (Driver Ed and Phys Ed), he was also my JV football coach. Coach Pearson cared about every one of his students and was always calming when we faced adversity. Just a few years ago I was fortunate enough to meet up with him again but this time as his Driver Ed partner. He was able to share some of his experiences with me and give me his ideas for teaching. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to JT, Kim and Nicole; Nicole your grandfather was so proud of you!!! It was a shock to hear of Jon's passing because I always thought of him as ageless. He was an amazing man blessed with many talents. I was always jealous of his energy level...work all day at school, coach, and then go home and work in the shop. He coached a number of sports at Panama which was an indicator of his many talents, I have many fond memories of our years together coaching girls' volleyball. One thing about Jon...he never wanted to be the bad guy. If something wasn't going quite right at practice he would get in my ear until I would blow the whistle and "correct" whatever was bugging him. I also have great memories of Jon on the volleyball court at the Y with our Panama faculty team. He may have been our oldest player in years but you would never have known it by the way he played. We had a lot of fun sessions around my kitchen table...he, Keeney, and I and a few other drop-ins from time to time. He loved his coffee...and beer. He could put a beer away faster than anyone I've ever known. And most of all, I am grateful that he gifted me with a stained glass candy cane. Every year when I open that box at Christmas I think of Jon and all the great times we had as friends. Rest in peace, comrade!!!

Dear Mrs. Palmer,
Thank you so much for sharing these memories with us. I have to say I always thought of him as ageless too! His energy and work ethic was always impressive. I remember going to volleyball practice with him as a young girl - I was the ball girl always running around shaggin balls. I also remember going to boys swimming practice and trying to swim in between the lanes as the boys were practicing (and sometimes I would get in the way!) What great memories.
Love,
Nicole
