To the family of Bill McCool,
Bill was one of the finest gentlemen I've ever known. He was a great instructor and pilot. I was in many of the ground school classes he taught at Chautauqua Airlines. I was a pilot there from 1985-1995. He was the very embodiment of many wonderful traits. He was a powerful moral and intellectual influence, and always a snappy dresser!
I am grateful that he taught our ground school classes, and I am thankful that I knew him.
May he rest in eternal peace and love.
With sincere condolences,
-Victor Novotny

To the McCools,
I just read of the passing of Bill. My sincere sympathy to his family.
My deceased husband and I rented 101 N Hanford Ave, WE for many years, until we had our own house built. I knew your McCool grandparents better than your parents at the beginning, as your parents then lived out of town. We saw them when thy returned to Jamestown.
Bill & JoAnn were super people. I flew many times leaving & returning to Jamestown. I have always remembered your Dad telling me that flying on a small plane was safer as it did not get as far off the ground as larger planes. If anything were wrong it would just glide to a landing. I have told this to so very many people.

Dear Billy and Robin,
We have wonderful memories of our good times with your parents - the Jamestown General Hospital gift show, summer fair, charity ball and all the service projects we were all involved with. Also the Newcomer's Club, the Reg Lenna Civic Center and many other volunteer activities and organization always including your grandmother whenever she wanted.
Your Dad's service is to be admired and his piloting skills were like no others.
Thank you for sharing your parents with us and know that you have two wonderful guardian angels watching over you.
Fondly,
Sue & Greg Jones

Bill was a great guy. A knowledge of information. Always there to answer an aviation question or life in general. I worked with Bill in Jamestown for 20 years before moving to Indianapolis. In the early years I remember going on a trading flight in the Beech 99.
We took off from JHW and all of a sudden an engine shut down. He turned and looked at me and smiled. Some of Bill's humor as he scared me as part of his training He dropped me off in Erie and was still smiling. Bill also did not like cigar smoke, even on my day off.
Bill will be missed.

To The McCool Family,
The word “hero” is used many times to describe people…many times without merit. I have never met Colonel McCool. However without a doubt, Colonel William Glenn McCool II is a true American hero.
On behalf of myself and the 800 members of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, I extent our profound appreciation for Colonel McCool’s service to our country and extend our deepest sympathies to the family. May your memories of him diminish the pain your are experiencing with his loss.
God be with and bless all of you.
With Deepest Sympathies,
Ken J. Mascara
Sheriff, St. Lucie County, Florida

Uncle Bill was a great man. We all looked up to him in his walk in life. I had made plans last year to visit him in Florida but covid shut down visiting at nursing homes. Rest in peace Uncle Bill.

I flew with Bill many times when I was based in Jamestown, what a great guy. He always had a smile on his face. As a new hire at Chq I was getting the tour of the operations area and I found my mail box and instead of my last name being on tray I saw H-12. It took me a minute understand what it meant, Hickenberger has 12 letters, I said who came up with this, of course it was Bill and he was standing right behind me. He said “well son, I did” he smiled, laughed, and went on to the next local in the tour. What a great man.
