Obituary of Evelyn L. Dewey

Evelyn L. Conover Dewey, 99, formerly of Lakewood, passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 in Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, NY. She was born Feb. 8, 1922 in Lanse, Pa, a daughter of the late Carl J. and Hilma C. Johnson Edgren. She was a graduate of Cooper Township High School in 1939. Evelyn was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of a group of ladies that met often for aerobics and coffee after. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, homemade craftwork, and golf, and was known for her delicious homemade applesauce and jam. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Wendy Pritchard; three grandchildren: Jennifer Hoffman, Heidi (Christopher) Daly, Matthew (Cheri) Pritchard; four great-grandchildren: Emily, Mason, Michael Pritchard, and Ainsley Daley and one on the way; a sister Karin Hallberg; and a brother Leonard (Joyce) Edgren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilbert E. Conover and her second husband, Paul Dewey. A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Hoyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service, from 11 am to noon on Saturday in the funeral home.
