Obituary of Birdie M. Crandall

Birdie M. Crandall, 83, of 120 Aldren Ave. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:50 pm Sunday, October 31, 2021, in UPMC Chautauqua. An area resident for most of her life, she was born November 25, 1937, in Phillipsburg, PA, a daughter of the late James and Mary Plotner Hemmis. Birdie was employed as a real estate agent in Chautauqua County working for the office of Chautauqua 4 Sale. She enjoyed working with people and attended many real estate functions. She also enjoyed her trips to the casino with family and friends. She was a member of the Jamestown Community Chapel and the Christian Women's Club in Warren, PA. Surviving are her three sons: Larry (Brenda) Blose, Richard (Debbie) Blose both of Jamestown, Terrance (Beth) Blose of Churchill, TN, three step-sons: Rodney "Dutch" Crandall of Maryville, TN, Tom Crandall of Jamestown, Greg Crandall of Falconer, seven grandchildren: Stacey (Ed) Winans, Jason (Brenda) Blose, Melissa (Jim) Blose Chase , Richard Blose, Jr, Brian Blose, Tara (Bill) Seekins, Ashley (Michael) Stewart, several great grandchildren, including Nation Harrison who was very close to her, several great great grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, two brothers: William Hemmis of TX, James (Dawn) Hemmis of Brocton, NY and a sister, Betty (Denny) Sloan of FL. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney R. Crandall, Sr whom she married June 5, 1976, and who died September 26, 2014, and a grandson, Terrance Blose, Jr who died January 13, 2015. The funeral will be held at 11am Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Penhollow pastor of the Jamestown Community Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Kennedy, NY. Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home. Masks are required while inside the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Jamestown Community Chapel, 35 Camp St. Jamestown, NY or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701.
