Obituary of Jane L. Minton
Jane Loraine Minton, 88, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 12:32 am Monday, November 22, 2021, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident, she was born October 4, 1933, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Hiram Elroy and Ethel Carlson Pratt
Jane was a 1951 graduate of Southwestern Central School.
Jane was employed by the former Sears and Roebuck Store for 26 years and had also worked at Anderson Cleaners.
Jane was a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church, the Waterways Knitting Guild, Jamestown Embroidery Club, and a former member of the Jamestown Post Office Auxiliary.
Jane will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed hearing about her grandchildren and great grandchildren's many activities. She loved knitting and doing embroidery and coordinated the knitting and shipping of over 5000 hats to the soldiers on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Surviving are her children: Robert (Brenda) Minton, Jr. of Falconer, NY, Gretchen Minton of Lexington, KY, Sandra Olson of Lakewood, NY, seven grandchildren: Andrew (Lisa) Minton of Lakewood, Sarah (Jonathan) Herendeen of Clifton Springs, NY, Corinne (Christopher) Case of Lakewood, Mitchell Olson of Lakewood, Maclean Olson (Chirvhoua Churjeng) of Blockville, NY, Marcella Padgett, Robin Padgett both of Lexington, KY, 15 great grandchildren, a sister, Elsie (Kenneth) Lee of Brocton, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her four sisters, Marion French, Elizabeth McChesney, Susan Grey and Marie Pratt, and her brother, Morris Pratt.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Tom Holland, campus pastor of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11-1 pm Friday, two hours prior to the service, in the funeral home where masks are required while inside the funeral home.
