Obituary of Alice C. Mistretta

Alice C. Mistretta, 90, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 4:25 pm Tuesday, November 23, 2021, in Absolut Care of Westfield, Westfield, NY. A lifelong area resident, she was born November 6, 1931, on the family farm in Blockville, NY, a daughter of the late Asher and Nina Brainard Lyon. She was a graduate of Chautauqua High School and over the years had worked in several area stores and did housekeeping. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who was always taking care of her family. In earlier years she enjoyed bowling in her spare time. Surviving are her three children, Debra A. (Frank) Smith of Asheboro, NC, Phillip C. (Miriam) Mistretta, Kathleen Mistretta both of Jamestown, NY, five grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Smith, Danielle (Ben) Harbor both of NC, Vincent (Emme) Mistretta, Brian Mistretta both of Jamestown, Tamara (Jason) Strachan of VA, nine great grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Breana Smith, Alyssa Harbor, Ashlynn Harbor, Braydon Harbor, Abrielle Mistretta, Luca Mistretta, Ayla Mistretta, and Zoe Strachan. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Mistretta, whom she married June 4, 1952, and who died August 16, 2013, two brothers, David and Steven Lyon, and a sister, Lenora Bascom. The funeral will be held at 3 pm Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Samuelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-3 pm Monday, two hours prior to the service in the funeral home, where face masks must be worn while inside the funeral home.
