Dear John, Susan and other family members, I'm so sorry to hear of your father's/John's passing. The times we spent together: Friday night fish fries, playing cards, walking Sam, & the most fun of all...our sing-alongs are some of my fondest memories. Your parents were VERY special people! May your hearts heal quickly knowing their souls are are still with us. Your mom made me a banner to hang in my room in college: "Life is not the wick or the candle...it is the burning"...I still have it.

Dear Susan, John and Family,
We are so sorry for the loss of your father. Your Mom and Dad were wonderful people. Anyone who knew them were touched by their loving spirit. I remember many dinners at your house or ours and after dinner your dad would play his guitar while we all sang along. My Mom especially loved it when he would play “Today”. Our thoughts and prayers to all of you.
Heartfelt wishes, Linda (Tane) Ostrom

Mr Carlson was a great role model for us all at CC Ring school in the late 60s. Back then, I don't think he had to dish out
much discipline, but his quiet strength and leadership was evident. The role of strong men like Mr Cusimano, Mr Calcaterra,
Mr Munella, etc at Ring was very important for a lot of boys. I didn't know he was also a great athlete. Best wishes to his family.

In 1958, as a new sixth grade teacher at S.G. Love School, John was a sixth-grade teacher next door. John was most helpful to me as a new teacher. When becoming a principal, the Jamestown Public School Elementary Principals were a close-knit group of educators who all worked well together. I will miss my friend and helpmate. Roger Gilbert, Lakewood, NY.

Mr. Carlson was my grade school principal at Fletcher. He was such a kind and compassionate man. In later years he became my neighbor on the west side of town and I would enjoy our conversations when I would see him out and about.
To his son John who was a classmate of mine and to his entire family, I send my deepest sympathy.

Both John and Nancy were such wonderful friends of my parents George and Joyce Bataitis. We spent so much time together, including thanksgivings, Christmases, and Labor Day fireworks at Bergman Park. Mom and dad traveled extensively with John and Nancy and they were very close friends. I have such a wonderful memories of John‘s kindness. There was never a nicer man on the face of the earth, and I know all who loved him will miss him terribly.
