I was 10 years younger than my brother Mike but I remember riding horses with Johnny and his friend across the street when I was about 15. I think Mike and his wife and my parents were there as well. Flora Laufenburger loved him like his Mother Gladys loved Mike and I. He did love trains and fire trucks and would talk about them with us. I think someone had an accident with a Train up in Jamestown but listening to his stories was so entertaining and interesting. He loved and cared for hundreds of cats and I guess a hybrid wolf. He would drive his parents everywhere I recall. I last saw him a few years back while visiting my parents grave sight and he had a bright yellow Jeep which just reminded me of how he loved his cars also. I will truly miss my cousin Johnny.

Cousin Johnny wasn't big on being in photographs so I hope he doesn't mind me sharing these. Any more recent photos only show him hiding in the back row and almost unseen. The last time I talked to him a few months ago he was enjoying nature, hanging out by the riverside where the Conewango Creek meets the Allegheny River near the MacDonald's where he would later meet up with his regular buddies. He enjoyed life and nature, didn't take it or himself too seriously. I think that's a good thing to remember.

Hello folks. I grew up in Warren, PA with Blaine/Johnny and new him well through High School. I rode Buck at his Father's Farm, and we fished and paled around together some. I lost touch with him after going to college and then entering the USAF. In any event, I have fond memories of our times together and always liked him and thought well of him. I am very sorry for the Family's loss.

One of my earliest memories of cousin Johnny was an Easter visit. We slept in the same bedroom and in the morning I woke up and started crying because the Easter Bunny had left a small basket for me and a big one for my cousin. Turns out we both got two baskets. Boy, was that embarrassing even for a 3 year old. We got together for many holidays with him, uncle Ivan and aunt Gladys. He took me row boating down Conewango Creek and we rode a Scenic Cruiser to nowhere for no good reason. We spent a lot of good times at the "farm" walking back to the Big Rock and riding Smokey and Buckey. We spent one day in a tower reporting suspicious aircraft (No enemy planes got by us that day!). He knew all the train schedules and we would sometimes wave to the engineer. Same with buses and planes. Just a few of my early memories. Later in life just a few phone calls each year to catch up.
Johnny was a big person with a bigger heart. He seldom complained and he always had a chuckle in his voice regardless of the situation. I don't believe he ever saved any money. He was generous to a fault as well as kind, loyal and forgiving even when his mom made a bigger fuss over me than him.
Take care cousin, and see you soon!

He loved his horse, Stormy, that looked very much like this. We used to feed him corn husks in he summer while visiting my grandparents.

Johnny was always kind to me and my brother, Craig, by letting us ride his horse, “Stormy,” when we would visit my Gleason grandparents at the farm next to Ivan’s. Being city kids this was a really big deal and I’ll always remember it. Also, I remember his fondness for animals, dogs and cats. He was always kind to my great aunt Ethel Young. Have pictures from years ago, but sadly, no idea where they are.
Condolences to family and friends. Robin Roys

Karen and Blaine's entire family, It comes with a great deal of regret that we learned of Blaine's passing. We had beautiful visits with him at Burger King and Walmart Subway most mornings. Blaine was a real gentleman and lots of humor. He will be sadly missed by many. Our deepest sympathy, Craig Steinkamp & Larry Cauvel
