Obituary of Betty F. Lipari

Betty F. Palermo Lipari, age 97, of Greenhurst Mobile Village, passed away at 9:15 pm Saturday, February 19, 2022, at UPMC Chautauqua with her family by her side. She was born December 8, 1924, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine Arkeilpane Palermo. Betty was a 1942 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School and a graduate of Robert's Beauty School in 1943. After graduating from beauty school, she worked at the Modern Beauty Shop. There she met her husband, Frank Lipari, Jr., and they were married September 2, 1946. She became owner and operator of Betty's Beauty Shop at 615 Newland Ave, Jamestown, NY. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood and was a member of the of the Altar & Rosary Society. She spent many years cleaning and maintaining the church altar and heading up the after-funeral breakfasts. She was a devout Catholic and loved the Lord very much and would always say that He was her best friend. For many years, she hosted a St. Joseph table for members of her family and friends needing prayer. Her hobbies included baking, especially her famous Italian Christmas cookies and her homemade bread and pizza, which she loved to share with all her family and friends. She also loved planting beautiful flowers around her home, and most importantly spending time with her family and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she invested all her time in and loved "with her whole heart." She was a wonderful mom, grandma, and great grandma and will be missed greatly by her family. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann (Craig) Potwin of Bemus Point, NY, a son, David Lipari, of Lakewood, NY, three grandchildren, Shayna Marie, of Bemus Point, NY, Michelle (Mark) Hamilton of Randolph, NY, and Dr. Steven (Dr. Stacy) Potwin, of Charleston, WV, five great grandchildren, Keira Nevaeh and Ian Mark Hamilton of Randolph, Tyler Joseph and Ava Michelle of Bemus Point, and Ellie Layne Potwin of Charleston, WV. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Frank, who died March 30, 1992, her parents Michael Palermo who died May 12, 1972, Josephine Palermo who died June 7, 1989, a sister Kathrene (Rena) Lacagno, who died November 17, 1982, and a brother, Christy Palermo, who died December 19, 2019, as well as several nieces and nephews. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood. Visitation will not be observed. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum.
