Just the mention of Del’s name gives me a smile. Of the many people who worked at The Post-Journal over the years when I was there, Del stands out for his good humor, kindness, elan and the ice cream socials he organized. He filled the long counter in the dispatch department with enough ice cream and homemade toppings to treat everyone in the building. Too, Del would do things like take story books to read to the younger kids at PJ picnics so many years ago. He was, in sum, such a great guy.
I am so sorry Del is gone now. Thoughts and prayers for his family.
