Obituary of Earl J. Larson
Earl John Larson, 73, of Lakewood, NY, passed away at 11:42 am Thursday, March 03, 2022, in the home of his sister surrounded by his family.
A lifelong area resident, he was born November 12, 1948, in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late John A. and Pauline White Larson.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Power Drives in Falconer, NY and in previous years was employed by the Weber-Knapp Company for over 30 years.
Earl was a member and very active volunteer for the Busti Church of God. He was also a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, Sons of the Legion, and the Lakewood Fire Department. In earlier years he cooked at the chicken barbecues for the former AMVETS Post on Fluvanna Ave.
He will be remembered as an avid hunter and enjoyed bowling and golf. He loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Sabres and attended several hockey games over the years.
Earl loved being around people and socializing with everyone. He was the most generous, kindest, and friendliest person who would take the shirt off his back for anyone. He also enjoyed driving for the Amish community. He loved family gatherings and was never late for dinner.
Surviving is a sister; Elaine (Bill) Weaver of Lakewood, NY, his niece, and nephews; Richard (Laura) Weaver of Jayton, TX, Nancy Pavolko of Ashville, NY, Corey Angelo of Lakewood, NY, Chad (Jennifer) Angelo of Gastonia, NC, as well as several great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father who died March 27, 2002, his mother who died August 16, 2003, a sister, Brenda Angelo who died February 8, 2019, and a nephew, William Vincent Weaver, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm Saturday, March 5, 2022, in the Busti Church of God. Rev. Scott Smith, associate pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Busti Cemetery at a later date. Prior visitation will not be observed.
