Obituary of Marie R. Robbins

Marie Rubner Robbins, 94, of Lakewood, NY, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at 4:26 pm Monday, March 14, 2022, in her home. A lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, living the longest in Lakewood, NY, she was born October 3, 1927 to Louis S. and Mabel Clark Rubner, in their family home on Eiden Road in Stedman, NY. She attended the Wall Street School, Panama Central School, and graduated from the former Chautauqua Central School in 1945. Marie married the love of her life, the late Charles Otto Robbins on November 9, 1946 in Mayville, NY. They had a long happy marriage until his death on October 2, 2008. Marie and Charlie had three wonderful children and treasured being with her family more than anything else. She loved to cook and bake for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Bills and the Duke Blue Devils together with her family. She found great joy in traveling, especially when taking trips to Florida during the winter months. She will be remembered as a cheerful, kind-hearted woman who loved being involved in her community, where she was an active member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church. She would attend the Busti-Lakewood Aerobics Class, go mall walking at Chautauqua Mall, and play golf. Afterwards, she liked to have lunch and coffee with her friends. She had fun as a member of both the Busti Golden Agers and the Eagles Auxiliary. Marie had a passion for fashion, shopping, and knitting. Marie was a hard worker and held positions at Jamestown Mutual Insurance Company and Marlin Rockwell Corporation. She worked alongside her husband at the Charles Robbins Insurance Agency which they ran out of their own home and later worked at the LJ Stein Insurance Agency. She is survived by her children: Dale C. Robbins (Rebecca) of Jamestown, NY, Bruce D. Robbins of Lakewood, NY, Nancy Marie DeSanctis (Richard) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, her grandchildren: Anne Robbins (Mark Riolo) of Jamestown, Theodore Robbins (Kathleen) of Concord Township, OH, Alison White (James) of Manhattan, NY, Sarah Scofield (Eric) of Pittsboro, NC, Richard DeSanctis (Jameka) of Long Island, NY, her great grandchildren: Shea Ella Pressley of Monroe, NC, Ayden Scofield, Avery Scofield both of Pittsboro, NC, Charles Patrick Robbins of Concord Township, OH, Nathaniel DeSanctis of Long Island, NY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Charles O. Robbins, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Rubner, and three brothers, Paul L. Rubner, Milton S. Rubner, and Fred F. Rubner. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Childs, pastor of the Lakewood United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will not be observed. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Lakewood United Methodist Church, 164 Shadyside Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750, the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department, 37 Packard Way, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750.
