Obituary of Carol A. Farrar
Carol A. Farrar, 86, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday March 26, 2022, in her home.
A lifelong area resident, she was born December 14, 1935, a daughter of Harold and Della Johnson Swanson.
She was a 1953 graduate of Jamestown High School.
She was a stay-at-home mom until later in her children's life, last working for Super Duper on Fluvanna Avenue, Jamestown, for many years.
Carol will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was an avid bowler for many years, loved to bake and knit. Family members and friends were the recipients of many beautiful, knitted items. She loved to tend to her flower gardens and truly had a green thumb as is evident by the many plants she had on her kitchen table. She was a NASCAR and Buffalo Sabres fan and loved watching her game shows. She was a member of the Kiantone Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for many years.
Surviving are two daughters Gloria (Robert) Martin and Debra (the late Terry) Latona and a son Gregory Farrar all of Jamestown; three grandchildren Amanda Latona, Michael (Christina) Martin both of Jamestown and Ashley (Aaron) Young of Rochester NY; five great grandchildren Hailey Granger, Bentley Hess, Colton Martin, and Madison Martin all of Jamestown and Owen Young of Rochester; a brother-in-law Ralph Farrar of Jamestown and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Farrar whom she married September 11, 1954 and who died November 3, 2015; seven brothers Harold (Cleo, d.) Dick, Rollie (Donna, d.), Laverne (Dolores, d.), Link (Dolores, d.), Chuck (Anna, d.) and Pete (Jann, d.) four sisters infant Carolyn, Helen (Laverne, d.) Hanson, Imogene (Ray, d.) Ahlstrom and Doris (Jim, d.) Johnson.
The memorial service will be held at 11 AM Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
