Obituary of Peter F. D'Angelo

Peter F. D'Angelo, 89, of 3 Roland Road, passed into eternal life on Saturday April 16, 2022, in UPMC Hamot, Erie, PA. He was a devoted, loving, generous, kind-hearted, and sensitive man, always in service of others before self. The "baby" of the family, he took on the responsibility of helping his older siblings, coordinating healthcare and finances for a brother, preserving the family tree, managing the family property (aka "the barn"), and responding to neighbors and extended family whenever something needed repair. He was a doting husband, a dedicated father, and a proud "Papi". He was born July 18, 1932, in Jamestown, a son of the late Joseph and Anna Marie Pulizzi D'Angelo. He was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School. A Korean War veteran, he served in the US Air Force from 1952-72 achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Following honorable discharge, he worked as a customer service specialist for MRC/TRW and SKF. He was a member of Lake Memorial Post American Legion, War Vets Recreation, Allen Park Men's Club, VFW, Boys Club Alumni and served on the JHS Class of 1951 reunion committee as treasurer. Surviving are his wife Frances Welch D'Angelo, whom he married April 27, 1957; three children, Johanna (Wes) Ramsey of Centerville, OH, Peter C. (Karen) D'Angelo of Lockport, NY and Mark (Sarah) D'Angelo of Ypsilanti, MI; three grandchildren, Brennan D'Angelo, John Wesley Ramsey IV, and Mercedes Ramsey; and a sister, Mary Ann (Pete) Carlo of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor James D'Angelo; three sisters, Connie Nalbone, Catherine Colera, Rose Crise; and 5 brothers, Joseph, Vincent "Jimmy", Angelo, Anthony, and Thomas D'Angelo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday in St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Paul Cygan will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The D'Angelo family respectfully requests that all visitors wear face covers during visitation in the funeral home. A Christian Wake Service will be led at 4:45 pm Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Center for Handicapped Children (CHC) 1085 Eggert Rd., Buffalo, NY in the name of Peter as a remembrance of his grandson, Trevor James.
